Antibacterial and antibiofilm activity of polyfunctional benzimidazole derivatives

Introduction. Compounds based on fused imidazole derivatives can become the basis for development of a new generation clinical therapeutic agents more effective treatment resistant human bacterial infections. This requires research, including design, synthesis, and screening biologically active compounds this group. The aim. To study effect polyfunctional benzimidazole survival Escherichia coli AB1157 culture its ability to form biofilms. Methods. antibacterial activity studied was evaluated using serial dilution method. Modeling formation biofilms carried out in wells an immunological plate with subsequent staining biomass crystal violet. Results. inhibitory some by Gram-negative bacterium E. demonstrated. most pronounced exerted 5-bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1-H-benzimidazole. level biofilm decreased 2–4 times area concentrations 15–60 µg/ml 8–10 at 125 above. Conclusion. presented work expands knowledge about biological benzimidazoles. obtained results show that are good candidates drugs against data practical interest need further study.
